REASON’S MISSION: Reduce Euthanasia and Spay or Neuter

The mission of REASON – Reduce Euthanasia and Spay or Neuter – is to eliminate the killing and abandonment of healthy and unwanted cats, dogs, puppies and kittens.

REASON will accomplish this by providing spay/neuter surgical fee assistance for those individuals who otherwise would not be able to afford to get their animal fixed or the cost of such would create undue financial hardship. Reason partners with private practice veterinarians and low-cost clinics and collaborates with other animal welfare groups to further assist pet owners. REASON promotes humane education for all clients served by the program.

REASON can provide financial assistance

Need Financial Help to Spay or Neuter Your Pet?

You know that it’s important to have your pet spayed or neutered but you just can’t afford to pay an extra vet bill. REASON may be able to help if you are a Burke County resident. If you call 403-3675 to start the process, one of our volunteers will contact you with more details.

Options for Companion Animals

If you’re thinking of giving up your animal or rehoming your pet, please know there are a number of homeless animals currently at our local shelter and rescues. Try other options before giving up on your companion pet: Spaying and neutering may help eliminate problem behaviors. If you are considering adding a companion animal to your home, please check out these links to view available dogs/cats looking for a forever home: Burke County Animal Services (see also their Facebook page) and PetFinder.

With a low-cost adoption fee, they are already spayed/neutered so you won’t have to worry about that.

Best Friends Partner BadgeREASON is an approved partner with No More Homeless Pets® Network of animal welfare and sheltering organizations. The network is committed to saving the lives of homeless pets through effective adoption and spay-neuter programs. Together, we’re working to end the killing of healthy pets in our nation’s shelters.
